ADOPTION INFORMATION:
Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue is not a shelter or kennel facility. All dogs and cats are placed in foster homes until they find their forever homes. They are loved and cared for as part of our family!! We are a no kill rescue so we keep the animals for as long as it takes to find the best home for them. While in our care, we work on basic manners, crate/house training, and socialization. We will be able to tell the the good as well as the not so good about our animals. It is important for us to match the animal up with the family that is suited best for that said animal.
The first step to adopting from us is to fill out an adoption application. Be sure to answer all questions honestly. this will help us match you up with the best animal for your family. If an animal you are applying for isn't "the one" we keep your application and work with you to find a match.
Once your application is reviewed and references are checked, we will call you to set up a home visit. The home visit is required, no exceptions. Home Sweet Home Animal Rescue has the final say in the adoption of an animal. We only have the best interest of the animals at heart. Because of that, we may sometimes need to deny an applicant.
Once you are approved for adoption, a pick up/drop off day and time will be scheduled. We like to make sure the new families have enough time to prepare for their new family member :) We understand houses need to be doggie/kitty proofed, yards need to be reinforced and checked for safety, and shopping needs to be done..... We don't want you to feel rushed. The final step is the big adoption day!! Yipee! You will be required to read and sign an adoption application at this time. The adoption fee is to be paid at this time also. All paperwork will be given to you at time of adoption.

You must reside within a reasonable distance of the Buffalo NY area. Exceptions may be made ot Home Sweet Home's discretion. You also must be willing to drive to pick up the animal if you are far. We will not ship animals.
We understand that each animal is different and will have different requirements. Please be sure to read the entire description of an animal before applying. We do our best to state all requirements but please understand that the more we get to know the animals, the requirements may change. We will try to update as quickly as possible.
While home owners and Fully Fenced yards go to the top of the list, that does not mean it is always a requirement(unless stated), so please don't be discouraged to apply. We strive for the best possible match. We have to take many things into consideration, including breed/size/age, male/female, personality/temperment, activity level, ages of children(if any),fencing(type and height) if any, amont of time dog will spend home alone, and many other considerations. There is much more to a dog and cat than cuteness.
ADOPTION FEE INFO:We require a non-refundable adoption donation. Our fees depend on the animal. Older cats tend to be from free-$75. Kittens(under 8 months) are generally $75-$100. We sometimes reduce the fee for senior dogs and dogs with special needs for the right adopters. Pure Breeds tend to have a higher adoption fee. Puppies tend to be $200-$300. Puppymill dogs also have a higher fee due to the amount of vet care usually needed when they come into rescue. We sometimes get bunnies, birds, hamsters, and other small animals. Their fees will vary on a case to case basis.
All the animals are spayed/neutered(puppies require a spay/neuter agreement), up-to-date on vaccinations, de-wormed, flea treated, and some are microchipped.
Thank you for considering a rescue animal!
